Paul from DJ Podcasts writes "Beyond: Two Souls is the latest game to be released by Quantic Dream that focuses on a young girl by the name of Jodie Holmes who is modeled on Ellen Page, who has a gift, or curse depending on who you ask. Written by creative director David Cage who also produced Heavy Rain, this interactive drama involves a different style of gameplay which some refer to as more of a movie than a game. For me, Beyond: Two Souls offers something special that you dont find in most games today and thats an engaging story, albeit that its something that reminds you of pulp fiction."

GamR Mag Writes: "It seems as if every time Quantic Dream releases a game, the general gaming community begins debating what constitutes a game. This is due to the fact that most Quantic Dream games are a little less play and a little more watch than most gamers are used to. David Cage and Quantic Dream have been known for providing an experience over delivering a typical button-mashing title."

GameCloud: "Ultimately, Beyond: Two Souls succeeds as a narrative experience, and confidently delivers a captivating story that is thoughtful and driven by interesting characters. The non-linear structure is an intriguing idea that works fairly well despite limiting the players ability to make meaningful choices, but overall, I think David Cage and his team at Quantic Dream mostly achieved what they set out to do in the beginning. However, the problem is that this game will simply not be for everyone as it really depends on how anal you are with your definition of a game. Honestly, its great, but if youre not going into it for the story, you may just end up having a miserable time trying to take what visual enjoyment you can from seeing lots of Ellen Page. In my opinion, it does enough to justify being called a game, but unlike some of the aforementioned titles in this genre, I'm not entirely convinced it needed to be one."

There is no genre that can really fit what Quantic Dream does. Looking in a superficial way are adventures, but adventures are contained in a genus of its own, apart from what Telltale does for example. There are puzzles themselves and generally follow one of several paths that Quantic Dream offers. Looking Beyond: Two Souls, the game that comes closest is more Heavy Rain, Quantic Dream's other game.
